Previously known as Daughters of Isabella, we are now the Sisters in Christ. As a group of highly motivated and devoted Catholic women, we work towards fulfilling our organization’s three core values: sisterhood, service, and faith.
As a sisterhood, we also emphasize that we are Women of Worth. Proverbs 31:25;29- 30 states, “She is clothed with strength and dignity, and laughs at the days to come. Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all. Charm is deceptive and beauty fleeting; the women who fears the Lord is to be praised.” We, as an organization, use these verses to remind ourselves that we are individuals that are uniquely loved by our Lord and we glorify Him through gifts He has bestowed upon us through the Holy Spirit every day.
Each week we strive to grow in faith with one another. We have done this through hosting guest speakers to talk at our Sisterhood of Saints Series, by having social gatherings to bond with one another, and by holding a Sister Study over zoom. We also make gifts for Newman’s graduating members in the spring, partake in service projects around the Newman House, wash and iron mass linens, and find ways to get involved in bettering the New River Valley and Blacksburg area.
