Newman Thanksgiving
back

Thanks to the generosity of many community members sharing their time, talents and delicious side dishes plus the support of local area churches who provided tables and chairs for the event, this year’s Newman Thanksgiving was a huge success. As students, faculty and guest gathered in the Newman House they made their way to a seat at one of the many tables and found the table nicely dressed with a handmade thanksgiving treat and a reminder to “Give Thanks with a Grateful Heart.”

The evening began with a short prayer service that included a reflection by Cathryn Schwing, prayer intentions read by a variety of students, a blessing by Father David and songs lead by students in our music ministry. Following the prayer service guest were invited to the Thanksgiving dinner buffet where our students leaders were serving up a wonderful meal.
This evening provided an opportunity to gather as a community and give thanks for each other and the many gifts we have received. The chance to gather more than 230 people together to share in this event allowed our students, faculty and guest to grow closer as a community and encourage each to be grateful for the gift of a vibrant community of faith that encourages us all to live out our call to be true disciples of Christ. Go to our website vtcatholic.com for more photos or to see how more than 100 students will answer the call to be disciples of Christ as they give up their winter and spring break to be of service to others through our Newman Outreach Project, stay tuned for information on our Giving Tuesday Campaign to support students in their mission.
